BKFK ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website bkfk.ca and associated services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information, with particular attention to phone numbers and SMS communications.

Information We Collect

Phone number — collected when you sign up for a membership, opt into SMS updates, or submit a contact form.
Email address — collected at sign-up and for membership communications.
Name and billing information — collected during the membership onboarding process.
Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited).
Workouts and steps: only if you connect a watch or fitness app in TREAT (see “Connected Watches and Fitness Apps” below).

SMS / Text Message Opt-In

By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent box during sign-up, you expressly consent to receive recurring marketing and promotional text messages from BKFK — such as offers, promotions, and event updates — at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies; message & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Transactional and account messages are separate. Any transactional or account notifications (such as appointment, booking, or billing notices) are not part of this marketing SMS program and are sent only under a separate, dedicated opt-in. They are never bundled with marketing consent.

Message frequency: Varies — typically 2–6 messages per month.
Message & data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.
SMS consent is not required to purchase a membership or use our services.
Your phone number is never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How to Opt Out of SMS

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by:

Replying STOP to any text message we send you.
Emailing us at info@bkfk.ca with your phone number and a request to be removed.
Logging into your member portal and updating your communication preferences.

After opting out, you will receive one final confirmation message and no further SMS messages, except those required for account security (e.g., verification codes).

How to Opt Back In

If you have previously opted out and wish to receive SMS messages again, you may:

Reply START to any prior message from us.
Contact us at info@bkfk.ca to re-enable SMS on your account.

How We Use Your Information

To process and manage your membership.
To send account and service notifications (e.g., class schedules, billing notices) through your member portal or email — separately from any marketing SMS consent.
To send promotional messages (SMS or email) only where you have consented.
To respond to your inquiries and support requests.
To comply with legal obligations.

Connected Watches and Fitness Apps

TREAT is the Brass Knuckles Fight Klub (BKFK) members' daily food and training app at treat.bkfk.ca. You can choose to connect intervals.icu, Strava or Fitbit so the workouts and steps your watch records count toward your day's calories. Connecting is optional, and nothing is read until you connect.

What we read

intervals.icu: your workouts and your daily step count.
Strava: your workouts. We do not read steps from Strava.
Fitbit: your workouts and your daily step count.

For each workout we keep its type, start time, length, calories, its name and the device that recorded it. We only look at the last 7 days, and we check for new workouts about every 15 minutes. We never post, change or delete anything in your intervals.icu, Strava or Fitbit account. We do not keep maps, routes, location or heart rate data.

How we use it

Only to count your workouts and steps toward your own plan, calories and progress in TREAT. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone outside BKFK.

Who sees it

You, and your BKFK coaches, so they can help you with your plan.
Other members never see your synced workouts unless you choose to post one to the TREAT feed, which is off until you join it.
Workouts that come from Strava count toward your own plan only and are never shown to other members. They cannot be posted to the feed or shared.

Keeping the connection safe

We never see or store your password for these services. The access they give us is stored encrypted.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect any service at any time in TREAT under Connect your watch. When you do, we delete our access right away and stop reading, and we ask Strava and Fitbit to cancel our access on their side. Workouts that came from Strava are taken out of your plan. Workouts already added from intervals.icu or Fitbit stay in your log, and you can remove any of them. You can also cancel our access from inside intervals.icu, Strava or Fitbit.

How long we keep it

Synced workouts and steps are kept with the rest of your account, as described in Data Retention below. To have them deleted sooner, email info@bkfk.ca.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only with:

Service providers who help us operate our platform (e.g., payment processors, SMS delivery providers such as Twilio) — bound by confidentiality agreements.
Legal authorities when required by law.

Specifically regarding SMS: your phone number and consent status are shared with Twilio, Inc. solely to deliver messages on our behalf. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your membership is active and for up to 3 years after account closure, or as required by law. SMS opt-out records are retained indefinitely to honor your preferences.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at info@bkfk.ca.

Cookies

Our website uses minimal cookies for session management and basic analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
